All speakers are now confirmed and we’re delighted to be joined by an all-star panel including:

  • Rachael Bell, Principal, Rachael Bell Wealth Management
  • Joanne Holborn, Partner & Head of Employment, Baines Wilson
  • Angela Barker, formerly Safety, Health and Environment Director, Submarines, BAE Systems Marine Ltd
  • Nikki Dixon, Marketing Director, Daniel Thwaites PLC

The panel discussion will take place in the afternoon, and delve into topics including the panellists’ careers so far, the successes and challenges they have faced, and top tips for women looking to further their own careers. The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is ‘Embrace Equity’ so we’ll also be covering steps businesses can take to achieve gender equality in the workplace.

This will follow a morning of packed workshops focussing on subjects including ‘financial freedom’ and ‘the contribution of women to innovation’. Guests will also be treated to a networking two-course lunch.

Eve Halliday, Head of Commercial and Business Growth, said:

“There’s so much to look forward to at Cumbria’s International Women’s Day this year – from workshops providing practical knowledge and celebrating the contribution of women to society, to hearing from women working at the cutting edge of their fields.

It’s also about making a space for women to openly discuss their experiences. With this event, and with our other ‘Women in Business’ events, we aim to create a community where women can get together and learn from each other.

Our last International Women’s Day event was a huge success with over 80 guests and speakers from diverse backgrounds. So for this year we’ve increased capacity to 120!

Although tailored towards women, Cumbria’s International Women’s Day is also open to men. It’s all about empowering women, sharing knowledge and developing the next generation of leaders and all genders can play a part in that.”
