Chamber staff member nominated for national prize

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that a member of its senior management team has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Officially announced via social media on Wednesday, Luke is one of five finalists for the annual award alongside journalists from several other regions across the UK, with the winner to be announced in a ceremony at The Brewery in East London on Tuesday 7th September.

The Headlinemoney Awards, described as “financial journalism’s equivalent of the Oscars” celebrate brilliant journalism and top-flight communications from across the UK’s financial and business press and media.

It comprises categories both for individual journalists (Consumer and B2B) as well as media outlets covering different aspects of the financial marketplace. There are also trophies for individuals and press teams working in financial PR, media relations and communications.

Luke Jarmyn, who joined Cumbria Chamber of Commerce two months ago, confirmed his delight and surprise at being nominated for such a prestigious award.

He said: “When you see the calibre and quality of journalists and multi-media professionals nominated in both this and other categories, I feel nothing but a sense of privilege to be named among such a list.

“It is good to fly the flag for Cumbria and it is important to highlight that this couldn’t be achieved without the positive business activity in the region.

“I’m also pleased to see Headlinemoney recognising quality and in-depth journalism – national and local – in an incredibly tough time for the industry.”

Suzanne Caldwell, Managing Director at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, added: “We at the Chamber are immensely proud to see a valued member of our senior team being recognized for their efforts and talent.

“As an organization the Chamber’s role is to support and provide expertise to our members, as well as lobbying in their interesting to government. To do that we rely on our staff being experts with their fingers on the pulse, Luke being shortlisted for this award illustrates that.”
