Job Description
Overview of the role
The trainee outdoor technician and kit store assistant will learn aspects of working in the outdoor technical team, both working on activities and assisting in the kit store. Whilst developing in this role, the trainee will contribute to the team focus of delivering a high-quality customer experience in terms of quality of equipment available and delivery of outdoor sessions
Delivery of the programme
• Contributes to the ongoing improvement and development of Brathay training resources, activities and practice
• Contributes to the inspection and maintenance of all equipment
• Adheres to Brathay’s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures and any other statutory Health & Safety requirements
• To ensure training and outdoor activity resources are properly maintained and stored.
• To maintain, monitor and contribute to the development of effective and efficient resource administration, stock control and inspection processes and systems.
• To support the effective and efficient delivery of Brathay events.
• Provides direct outdoor technical support, instruction and safety cover to a range of Brathay training and personal development courses
• Models professional best practice when delivering or supervising outdoor activities and projects
Kit Store
• Works with Kit Store Technician in order to contribute to the efficient and effective running of the kit store and associated storage areas
• Prepares and packs training resources for offsite events as and when required
• Cleans and repairs equipment after activities
• Performs minor maintenance as and when required
People
• Liaises effectively with Course Directors, Trainers and Consultants in preparation for program delivery
• Liaises with Technical Support Manager, Senior Technician and other Technicians to manage any programme changes, resource clashes and identify potential areas for co-operation
• Liaises with Kit store technician with regard to issued kit and store requests
• Actively contributes to the staff team by communicating ideas and concerns openly
• Assists with the training of other staff and Associate workers
Miscellaneous
In addition to the duties listed here, the post holder is required to perform other duties, which are assigned from time to time. However, such other duties will be reasonable in relation to the individual’s skills, abilities and grade.

Housekeeping
• Completes the full range of
• Checks premises, equipment, for faults, rectifying wherever reasonable reporting to the estate team via the maintenance log.

• Ensures that the venue is prepared for events
Other operational tasks
• Attend and hold handover meetings with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the site
• In order to support the smooth running of the team, the trainee may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks at the request of the operations manager or senior technician

Essential skills and requirements:
• Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised
• Good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
• Methodical, with good attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
• A friendly, competent and constructive approach to working in the team of colleagues and dealing with clients.

Working pattern:
25 hours. Any 5 days in 7.
