Chamber Members and Chamber Patron named as Regional Winners at Chamber Business Awards

The Chamber Business Awards is one of the showpiece events in the business calendar, recognising and promoting the best of British business through a series of regional heats, culminating in a campaign to showcase the winning businesses on an international stage.

Two Cumbria Chamber members and one of our Chamber Patrons have been named as winners in the Northwest of England. We’d like to extend our congratulations to the following businesses:

McMenon Engineering Services Ltd has won the Game Changer Award (Entrepreneur of the Year)

McMenon is a leading manufacturer of flow and temperature measurement instruments. Since taking over the business, CEO Anand Puthran’s strategic vision and export-centric approach have propelled McMenon to significant and sustained growth on a global scale. Anand is also a Board member and Vice President of Cumbria Chamber.

OEE Container Technology Ltd has won the Global Player Award (Export Business of the Year)

OEE Container Technology Ltd provide engineering services to food and beverage packaging manufacturers. Since opening in 2018, OEE Container Technology has achieved significant and sustained growth internationally, recently achieving a King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Omega Proteins Ltd (Leo Group Ltd) has won the Planet Saver Award (Green Business of the Year)

Chamber Patron Omega Proteins recycle animal biproducts into meals and oils to be used in a range of products. They have invested heavily in sustainable technologies, including biofilters to remove odours from air, a reed bed and effluent treatment plant to recycle wastewater and a biomass thermal oxidiser which generates electricity from surplus steam.

Cumbria Chamber Managing Director Suzanne Caldwell said:

“Huge congratulations to McMenon, OEE and Omega Proteins for these well deserved wins! It’s great to see their hard work and achievements being recognised. We’re keeping everything crossed for them as they now go forward into the national Chamber Awards.

We’re obviously delighted to have three regional winners among our members. This is a great hit rate for Cumbria as there are only eight categories. Given the number of accredited Chambers in the north west 38% of the wins coming to the county is tremendous. It’s a reflection of the great businesses we have here in Cumbria.”

What happens next?

From the regional winners a national winner will be selected and announced in the coming weeks. The full shortlists can be found here.
