Cumbria Chamber hosts Christmas lunch at Castle Green Hotel

Cumbria Chamber welcomed 50 guests to the Castle Green Hotel near Kendal, on Friday 2nd December for its annual Christmas lunch.

Guests gathered in the Kendal Suite, which had been beautifully decorated for the occasion, and took their seats as Business Development Manager, Derek Armstrong, welcomed everyone to the lunch.

Derek then introduced Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria, Peter McCall, who delivered an entertaining and encouraging speech on policing in the county. To everyone’s surprise, he then picked up a guitar and performed an original song for the crowd!

The first course of soup was then brought out followed by a main course of turkey with all the trimmings and then Christmas cake for desert.

After lunch, the guests chatted and mingled over a few drinks before the raffle, which raised money for Cancer Care North Lancashire and South Cumbria and Springfield Charity which supports women facing domestic abuse.

Head of Commercial and Business Growth, Eve Halliday, then gave an after-lunch speech touching on current Chamber initiatives to support members including solutions for recruitment issues, and new member services.

Derek Armstrong said: “It was great to see members new and old at our Christmas lunch on Friday! Our aim at the Chamber is to provide opportunities for our members, not just to discuss shared issues and successes, but also to socialise and have fun. And what better venue than the Castle Green Hotel at Christmas time – the service and food was excellent. We’d like to wish everyone in our network a merry Christmas and we hope to see you all at our events in the New Year.”
