Local business to celebrate 30th Birthday

A popular local business and long-standing Chamber member, Office Machine Services is set to celebrate its 30th year in business this month.
Since 1992, Office Machine Services have been supplying corporate equipment and office machines for sale and hire to a range of industries in south Cumbria.
Owner Director, Gary Baker launched the company from his home in Barrow, having spotted a gap in the market.
“‘I was made redundant, and I knew that there was an opportunity for me to support local businesses with high quality printing machines and excellent service. So that is exactly what I set off to do.”
Office Machine Services offer a variety of machines, including small desktop printers, large multifunction printers, shredders, as well as dictation and transcription machines, with options to purchase, rent, lease, or finance.
“We support all of our customers here in south Cumbria ourselves” says Gary. “Two of my sons are excellent engineers, and we pride ourselves on being a family run business where customer service and care is paramount.” 
After a number of successful years, eventually they outgrew the home they started in. So, in 2000 they uprooted and moved to a bigger site, still local but with much more scope.
“We moved to a location where we have integral business premises” explains Gary. “We are always available and very hands on, which is why I think some of our customers have stayed with us from the beginning. We support all our customers when they get a machine from us. We provide honest and professional advice, helping customers select the right products for their requirements, and making sure that they get the best deal available, whether that be via finance, rental, lease, or purchase. Then we support them throughout the time they have the machine, keeping disruption to a minimum.”
Office Machine Services are a quality assessed business and have quality management standards in place. They are members of the Quality Guild and are subject to annual inspections. OMS are also regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
“It’s been a great 30 years and I’m looking forward to the next 30!” says Gary.
