Strategic Employer Groups – How to get involved

Our next round of Strategic Employer Group (SEG) meetings are towards the end of this month.

These meetings are a great opportunity for business leaders to get together to discuss current challenges and issues, feed into Chamber policy and lobbying, and to hear from and talk with relevant stakeholders such as local authorities, skills providers, economic development initiatives and more.

At this next round of meetings, we’ll be presenting findings from our recent work on the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) which we undertook on behalf of the Department for Education. We’ve also invited local colleges to give a short update on their Strategic Development Fund activities, which are primarily around improving access to apprenticeships and other training.

The upcoming SEG meetings are:

  • 26th April – SEG West (Workington) – Lakes College – Lillyhall Business Park, Hallwood Rd, Workington CA14 4JN (Sponsorship Available)
  • 27th April – SEG North (Carlisle) – Burnetts Solicitors – Victoria House, Wavell Dr, Rosehill Dr, Rosehill Industrial Estate, Carlisle CA1 2ST (Sponsored by Burnetts Solicitors)
  • 28th April – SEG Furness (Barrow) – Furness College – Channelside, Barrow-in-Furness LA14 2PJ (Sponsor TBA)
  • 29th April – SEG South Lakeland (Kendal) – Café Ambio – J36 Crooklands, Kendal LA7 7FP (Sponsored by Napthens LLP)

The meetings start at 7.30am and run until 9.00am. Breakfast rolls, tea and coffee will be provided. These events are aimed at those in senior roles in businesses with around 20 or more employees. There is no charge for attending.
