Humanitarian Aid to Ukrainian Refugees

Many of you may have been contacted by either new or existing contacts, who need help moving humanitarian aid out of the UK and into countries surrounding Ukraine, such as Poland. People and organisations have been doing a tremendous job gathering donations for those affected by the war in Ukraine, and we want to do our bit to support them.

Some aid organisations and individuals won’t have much experience of importing and exporting.

Therefore the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) through ChamberCustoms will be offering FREE export declarations for goods leaving the UK for humanitarian purposes. They are also prepared to take a light-touch approach to onboarding to expedite the process.

Enquiries can be submitted on the ChamberCustoms Ukraine Aid page here.

What the BCC will do:

  • Create an export declaration
  • Create a GMR for the truck returning back to UK
  • Provide guidance on the steps to follow

What the BCC will not do:

  • Transit documentation
  • Import declaration in Poland (or other receiving country)

Guidance for what the customer will still need to do:

  • EAD export declaration using single commodity code (provided by ChamberCustoms free of charge)
  • GMR in GB (ChamberCustoms can provide free of charge)
  • T1 Transit from GB to destination country
  • ENS in France
  • SI Brexit in France
  • Physical transportation of goods
  • Closure of Transit movement in destination country
  • Import entry (may not be required as currently PL authorities are waiving it)

HMRC have also produced a document here with information and links to further resources.
