Job Description
Based at Carlisle Civic Centre, the Parking and Promotions Assistant will support the Council’s Parking and Enforcement Team in the smooth operation and promotion of the City’s pay and display car parks. Key responsibilities will include, working to:
• support the marketing and promotion of the City Council’s car parking offer, developing ideas and creative initiatives in liaison with the Policy and Communications team and city centre / tourism team on shared outcomes.
• undertake customer research and develop options to support the review of parking charges and permit prices, actively seeking out ideas to support the future parking needs of local business customers to attract new and repeat business.
• develop options to support the promotion of fleet services and utilising the fleet to support awareness raising campaigns and advertising.
• monitor standards in the car parks through programmed inspection.

The Parking and Promotions Assistant will be required to work both in the office and out on site at various locations across the city and will need to work on their own and use their own initiative.

Essential skills and requirements:
• Good standard of literacy and numeracy skills – four GCSE passes min (D)
• Able to complete paperwork, forms accurately, report preparation
• Confident IT skills (email / Word / Spreadsheets)
• Team player, with flexible approach and able to work on own initiative
• Good communication skills – able to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues, members of the public and business owners, building robust links / relationships with new customers
• Creativity
• Reliable, punctual, positive attitude, keen to learn
• Good awareness of health and safety risks
• Takes pride in their work
• Driving licence is desirable but not essential

Working pattern:
25 hours. The working pattern (times / days etc) will be discussed and agreed with the successful applicant. Working hours will be within a typical week (Monday to Friday and between 08:00 – 17:00) but the exact days and number of hours per day will be flexible and open to discussion.
