Her job in less than a minute
Suzanne is the Managing Director of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce. She’s in charge of the whole business, the senior management team report to her, and she’s responsible for strategy, working with other board members and managing projects. One of her most crucial roles is searching for quality new enterprise.
What is her connection to Cumbria?
Suzanne married a Cumbrian so was very happy to move up here! She met her husband when she was on holiday visiting her parents in the county, so it holds happy memories for her. Suzanne’s husband has recently discovered that he has family in the area dating back to the 1400s.
Why join the Chamber’s board of directors?
After working for the Chamber and being on the board of directors for 15 years, she was invited to become an Executive Director due to the contributions she had made over this time. Currently, Suzanne continues to work hard and implement strategies to improve the Chamber.
What is her standout/best quality when working?
Suzanne describes herself as pragmatic, decisive and focused on getting things done. Her naturally bubbly personality brings out the best in everyone she works with, and she encourages and inspires everyone in her team.
What is her biggest career highlight to date?
Suzanne’s biggest achievement was when she was asked to become Managing Director of the Chamber team. Her family and husband were extremely proud of her as she had worked, and continues to work, extremely hard to reach this position and to keep the company as successful as it is.
However, one of her proudest moments was at the Chamber’s Christmas party in 2021. Seeing the whole team together, she realised just how everyone really was a team and came together to have fun and support each other. It made her proud, and slightly emotional!
A fun fact
After watching The Sound of Music (her favourite film ever), Suzanne decided that she wanted to be a nun!
