United Learning- Richard Rose Central Academy, Student Support Worker, Carlisle

Job description:
Care and support for students within the Academy, working with students with significant barriers to learning and, developing and leading on a specialist Care, Guidance and Support topic. Support for staff and parents within the Academy.

1. Provide pastoral support for students across the Academy: 1-1, small groups, in class support
2. To work with the Attendance Officer ensuring good attendance for students
3. Supporting the process of identification of student’s learning needs
4. Preparing curriculum materials to support students
5. To work with the Inclusion Team in supporting Individual Behaviour Plans
6. Assist in the planning the provision of in-class support
7. Teaching and supporting withdrawal programmes for students, especially in regards to specific areas of need: anger management, anxiety, worry, emotional self-regulation
8. Assisting in reporting students’ progress
9. To liaise regularly with parents

The above list is not intended to be exhaustive and the will post holder will be expected to work flexibly and many of the duties will be supported by training

Essential skills and requirements:
A good standard of general education, in particular the ability to write to a good standard of literacy and with developed report writing skills.
Ideally have at least two years experience of work within a school/Academy related service or be able to demonstrate an interest in supporting children and young people
Working with children, young people, parents and families preferably within an educational context.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for all successful applicants.

Working pattern:
25 hours. 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Term time plus one week (39 working weeks per year).

National Minimum Wage
