Signal Film & Media, Project Assistant, Barrow-in-Furness

Job description:
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious individual to join our talented, friendly team. You’ll be working across all areas of the organisation’s Media and Arts Programmes, playing a key role in delivering our vibrant programme of residencies, workshops, exhibitions and events, as well as helping with the day-to-day running of the organisation. You will have opportunities to develop a huge range of creative, digital, technical and administrative skills, working alongside exciting and internationally acclaimed artists and filmmakers. This is an initial six- month role with the chance to progress to an advanced Full-Time position in the company.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Programme Managers and Project Managers to provide practical support in preparing & delivering workshops activities in person and online
• Provide practical in-session support for participants in a person-centered manner for both online and in-person workshops
• Assist the Project Managers to recruit project participants
• Assist the Project Managers to publicise and promote projects, including activity on social media, website and other information sources
• Respond to project enquiries, maintain contact databases and work with project colleagues to develop engaging content and communications for different audiences
• Provide support for monitoring and evaluation including recording attendances and collecting feedback
• Assist Signal staff in administrative & technical support including data input, transcribing, workshop setup & takedown
• Support the Project Managers in the planning, curation and installation of exhibitions both online and offline in outdoor and indoor exhibition spaces
• Support the Project Managers to deliver project-wide communications, ensuring all partners have access to key information
• Organise and provide administration for key project meetings, taking notes and circulating papers
• Represent us face-to-face, via email and by phone in a range of roles and capacities

Person Specification
You will have an open, collaborative, friendly and flexible approach to your work and be
ready to provide practical support for workshops and creative media projects alongside
possessing strong administrative skills to support regular office-based tasks.

Essential skills and requirements:
• Educated to Higher Education or Degree level
• Strong IT skills, including good working knowledge of text & spreadsheet programmes
• Organised with good time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment & across multiple projects
• A confident, solution-focused approach
• Able to work as a team-player in a person-centered & supportive manner
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders in a wide range of formats
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly & patiently in both written and verbal forms
• Commitment to continuous improvement, learning and personal development.
• Experience of using a range of digital media
• Experience of working well with members of the public

DESIRABLE
• Good working knowledge of the local area (Barrow & South Furness) including the work of Signal Film and Media
• Experience in delivering community or arts activities
• Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to work towards key milestones in a project
• Experience of administration
• Experience in using creative, design or editing programmes

Working pattern:
25 hours with potential to extend to Full-Time. Three days per week. Usual office hours are 9.30am to 6pm, some evening and weekend work is required.
