Northern Strategic Employers Group – Carlisle and Eden
The Northern Strategic Employers Group is a new concept from Cumbria Chamber of Commerce which replaces the highly popular Carlisle Large Employers’ Affinity Group (LEAG) which ran a few years ago.
However, much has changed again since then! And we, and a number of LEAG participants, feel that now is the time to revive the concept.
There are a range of initiatives and changes relevant to local businesses, such as the Borderlands initiative, local government reorganisation and employer-led Local Skills Improvement Plans. Alongside these, businesses are facing a perfect storm of challenges around recovery from the Covid crisis, post-Brexit trading, logistics, staffing, raw materials and energy prices. While at the same time being encouraged to support moves towards Net Zero.
This cross-sector group will enable you to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities and share intelligence with other businesses and relevant organisations (such as local authorities) in a relaxed and confidential environment. It will also help us in our lobbying and representation activities on your behalf.
We hope the group will meet quarterly for about 1.5 hours, and will include a brief presentation by one or more guest speakers, followed by the opportunity for discussions with them, plus breakfast and networking!
