Is your business ready to make the move to net zero?

Going net zero

We’ve probably all by now heard the term ‘net zero’ but what does it actually mean?

Going net zero means achieving a balance between the carbon emitted into the atmosphere, and the carbon removed from it. This will be achieved by either changing how we use land to absorb more carbon dioxide, or by extracting it directly through technology.

UK Government has set a target of 2050 to achieve net zero, but ideally considerable changes need to have been made by 2030.

With larger organisations making the pledge to become net zero, it’ll add pressure to smaller businesses to do the same through a combination of methods: in-house efficiency and supporting external emissions reduction projects.

So, how can businesses become net zero?

Understanding your carbon footprint is a good place to start. Recognising what energy you’re using and where will help you set clear and achievable targets within your business.

Going net zero could mean installing energy saving light bulbs, switching to electric vehicles for work use or even cleaner forms of transport to reduce footprints and even introducing new employee schemes in work such as cycle to work.

If you’re ready to go carbon neutral or net zero, make the change today.
