The Chamber is keen that businesses have the knowledge and expertise to navigate what could be choppy waters ahead.
To that end, we’re inviting Cumbrian businesses to a Brexit-planning briefing in Kendal on Tuesday September 24th.
We’re running this event in partnership with Muckle LLP – the law firm that delivered a Brexit-planning workshop with us in Carlisle in February – and the accountancy and consulting services specialist RSM.
Speakers include Simon Hart, RSM’s Brexit lead partner and one of the UK’s foremost authorities on Brexit issues, and Muckle Brexit specialists Robin Adams and Luke Donockley.
Luke recorded a podcast for us earlier this year, which has been downloaded by more than 1,500 businesses to help inform their Brexit planning.
Chamber Chief Executive Rob Johnston said: “It seems likely that we are on the cusp of a pivotal General Election and it remains a distinct possibility that the UK will leave the EU on October 31st without a deal, which means no transition period and immediate impacts for businesses.
“The briefing will explore sensible and practical measures that businesses can take to minimise disruption to their operations.
“It will also consider the impact of Brexit in the context of other global shocks such as rising protectionism and climate change.
“I’d urge businesses to come along. This is a golden opportunity for businesses to understand what they need to put in place and to pick the brains of three of the UK’s leading authorities on Brexit planning.
“This could be your last chance to get to grips with this.”
The Chamber will provide an update on how we expect Brexit to affect Cumbria and we hope to be able to share details of new services we’re about to launch to help businesses through Brexit including extra help for exporters and importers struggling with additional documentation.
The event is at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, on Tuesday September 24th, arriving from 8am for breakfast for an 8.30am start.
The presentations will be followed by a Q&A and we aim to wind-up the session at 10am.
This is a free event but we need you to register here.
