Practical Guidance on Handling Redundancies Effectively – Online Training Session with Michael Bauer of Cumbria Employment Solicitors, 11 February 2021

Planning Ahead

Since March 2020, employers have faced constant challenge and change that has demanded unprecedented adaptability and resilience.

Fingers crossed, the vaccination process heralds a gradual return to more stability and, while normality (whatever that is these days) may still be a way off, many organisations are beginning to consider what steps they need to take to ensure that they are best able to move forwards as lockdown restrictions and furlough support subside.

Unfortunately, this many organisations are considering redundancies so as to ensure that they are appropriately staffed to deliver the efficiency and flexibility that the coming months are likely to demand.

This training will guide you through a redundancy process so that you are able to ensure that your staffing matches the future needs of your organisation. Making these changes is much more straightforward than you think.

This practical training and “can do” training will:

  • Provide a step by step guide to carrying out a redundancy process efficiently, fairly and lawfully;
  • Deal with key pitfalls and how to avoid them;
  • Give you handouts and template letters for use in your organisation;
  • Convince you that employment law is on your side and designed to allow you to make the necessary changes.

In essence, the training is about helping you to undertake a redundancy process with the minimum of risk, hassle and cost.

Who will Benefit from the Training?

The training is aimed at anyone who manages staff including business owners, managers, supervisors and HR teams and will give you the practical guidance and the confidence to tackle the processes described above.

The Trainer

Michael Bauer is a 22 year qualified employment solicitor who has worked in international firms in London and Manchester and has for the last 12 years run Cumbria Employment Solicitors – a specialist law firm advising employers of all shapes and sizes (including many well-known local businesses) on all aspects of employment law.

He was also a part-time Employment Judge for 5 years – giving him a particular insight into handling employment law matters successfully.

Michael has delivered training locally and nationally on a wide range of employment law topics. He tries (and, judging from the feedback he receives), succeeds in making his training interesting, practical and positive.

We anticipate the training will last around 3 hours (with a 5 minute break) followed by a question and answer session dealing with any particular queries that attendees may have.
