Employment Law Truth No 1 – “The longer you leave it, the worse it will get!”
The range of HR issues that managers face can feel overwhelming, particularly in these challenging times. “Difficult conversations” with staff are avoided and HR processes not followed effectively or at all. Often productivity and morale drop and disputes and absence rise. Poor attitude, performance and behaviour can become entrenched.
Over 2 x 3 hour sessions, this training is intended to give all managers – new and experienced – the skills, knowledge and confidence to tackle common staff issues. Join Cumbria Chamber of Commerce alongside Michael Bauer of Cumbria Employment Solicitors on 21st and 28th October, 10-1pm.
When followed properly, our approach (developed over the last 20 years) can allow you to address what seem to be intractable staff problems and transform your team, department or organisation.
• Give you various “insider” tips that are crucial to handling all HR matters successfully;
• Deal with the key factors for minimising problems from the outset and dealing successfully with persistent staff issues;
• Give you the techniques for handling “difficult conversations” effectively;
• Work through common issues that arise and how to tackle them – including key HR processes – step by step;
• Provide sample letters and key employment contract clauses to help you.
Who will benefit from this training
The training is aimed at anyone who manages staff including business owners, managers, supervisors and HR teams and will give you the practical guidance and the confidence to address staff issues in your organisation. The training would also be useful “crash course” for new managers.
The standard rate for this session is £290+VAT for non-members, or offered at a discounted rate of £190+VAT to Chamber members.

Michael Bauer is a 22 year qualified employment solicitor who has worked in international firms in London and Manchester and has for the last 12 years run Cumbria Employment Solicitors – a specialist law firm advising employers of all shapes and sizes (including many well-known local businesses) on all aspects of employment law.
He was also a part-time Employment Judge for 5 years – giving him a particular insight into handling employment law matters successfully.
