In-person training – Excel Training with Cumbria Chamber of Commerce – Introduction to Excel – Wednesday, 19th January 2022 – Kendal

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce with Lake Mill Consulting Services are holding 3 in-person Excel training sessions- Introduction to Excel (Wednesday 19th January) – Intermediate Excel (Wednesday 2nd February) and Advanced Excel training (Wednesday 2nd March). The course will be held at Stonecross Manor, Kendal.

Each workshop is £120+VAT for Chamber members, or £170+VAT for non-members.  Lunch is included in this cost.

This is a one-day training course structured into 6 modules.


Commencing 9.00am. We will have an introduction then the course will commence at 9.30. Lunch will be served from 12.00pm – 12.30pm. We aim to be finished for 4.00pm.

Course Aims:

This training course is designed to familiarise users with the main features of Microsoft Office Excel. It is entirely ‘hands on’, so those attending will get practice in creating and modifying actual spreadsheets.

Computers/laptops are NOT provided, please bring your own device to work on.

Target Audience:

The course is intended for new users of Microsoft Excel 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 who want to become productive in the shortest possible time. Delegates should be familiar with using a PC with the Microsoft Windows operating system, but no prior experience with Excel is required.


Versions Covered-  This course covers 2010, 2013, 2016 and Office 365 versions

MODULE 1: Getting Started with Microsoft Excel

Starting Excel and some of its basic navigation and help controls.

MODULE 2: Excel Tabs and Interfaces on
What will you learn:
Exploring the different tabs and options the “Ribbon” offers.
Topics covered:

  • The Quick Access Toolbar and File Menu
  • The Home Tab
  • The Insert Tab
  • The Page Layout Tab
  • he Formulas Tab
  • The Data Tab
  • The Review Tab

MODULE 3: Microsoft Excel Basics
What will you learn:
Identify and Use Cells, Columns, Rows, Workbooks to enter and manage data.
Topics covered:

  • Working with Excel
  • Moving your Data
  • Basic Excel Features
  • Smart Tags and Options Buttons
  • Editing Tools

MODULE 4: Editing your Workbook
What will you learn:
Formatting features and enhancing a workbook’s overall appearance and using Conditional Formatting.
Topics covered:

  • Cell Formatting
  • Conditional Formatting
  • Enhancing a Worksheet’s Appearance

MODULE 5: Printing and Viewing your Workbook
What will you learn:
Exploring Excel’s printing and viewing options enhancing your ability to print and work with your data effectively.
Topics covered:

  • Using the View Tab
  • Managing a Single Window
  • Managing Multiple Windows
  • Printing your Workbook
  • Print Page Layout options

MODULE 6: Working with Charts in Excel
What will you learn:
Introducing charts within Excel and explain how to create basic charts to help convey your data with.
Topics covered:

  • Using Recommended and Standard Charts
  • Chart Elements
  • Chart Tools – Design & Format
